We had the pleasure of meeting Don Felix in the rainy town of Jerico this past October. A man of small stature and few words, he produces some of the best washed coffee that we have ever tasted in Jerico. We purchased this coffee after roasting it at 18% moisture content (usually we like to cup at 10.5-11.5% moisture). We were leaving for the states shortly and wanted to give Mr. Felix our full attention. The cup was sparkling like the best Kenyan's; juicy body, slightly herbaceous, pink starburst, grapefruit, and a deep sweetness like panela. We instantly set aside a few bags of his coffee to bring home. We received a pre-shipment sample and we could not be happier with the outcome; a milky sweet body, starburst, grapefruit and lemon dance on your tongue, with a killer acidity and sweet cane sugar finish.
