About Square One Coffee Brazil Pedra Branca

This coffee comes to us from the Mantiqueira micro-region in Brazil, which is home to over 2,000 smallholder coffee farmers. Beneficio Pedra Branca is a coffee mill nestled in the Pedra Branca mountainside in Pedralva City. Before this mill was built, the high quality coffee grown in this area was unable to be fully accessed due to a lack of knowledge, time, budget, and infrastructure needed to process the coffee at a high quality standard. The mill's proximity enables the region's high quality producers to see their crops reach their full potential because of this increased accessibility to modern equipment for washing and processing. Beneficio Pedra Branca is innovative, utilizing multiple drying methods, including covered patios, drying greenhouses, mechanical dryers, and African drying beds, as well as a wet mill and washing and sorting machines. Pedra Branca currently serves about 600 farmers.
