Don Isidro’s farm sits 1500 meters up in the mountains of Jinotega, one of the highest and most fertile regions of Nicaragua. The fertile soil, colder microclimate, and spring water are a perfect combination for this washed coffee. The farm has many drying racks, in order to select out imperfections and ensure proper drying before this coffee is prepared for safe transport down the mountain. Ben of Gold Mountain Coffee Growers works with multiple different producers to ensure that roasters are receiving high quality coffee as well as producers receiving high compensation for their efforts. Gold Mountain recently won the SCAE excellence award for their sustainability efforts; with their efforts they protect rainforests, provide medical assistance, loans, and educational supplies.
