This is the first coffee that we have offered from the Democratic Republic of Congo and we are very excited about it! Located near Lake Kivu, SOPACDI is a coffee growing cooperative that was started by Joachim Munganga, who was once a farmer himself. Since it started in 2002, SOPACDI has grown to be more than 5,600 farmers strong, a substantial portion being women producers. SOPACDI is the first coffee cooperative to be both Fair Trade certified and Certified Organic in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our selection from SOPACDI offers a big and juicy body supported by sweet, tart flavors and floral aromatics. Look for strawberry, rhubarb, plum, and hibiscus flavors with a crisp citrus acidity. This offering has layers of complexity and sweetness that lingers. We think the flavors of this coffee offers a pleasant compliment for the warmer weather to come. Enjoy!
